 | スピントロニクスの基礎理論 [慶應スピントロニクス 研究連携先 - 大阪大学] 大阪大学の河野准教授は、スピントロニクスを基礎物理学の観点から理論的に研究しています。 スピントロニクスとは、固体中の電子の持つ電荷と電子スピンの両方を活用して、新しい機能を持った電子デバイスを実現する分野で、現在世界中で盛んに研究されています。 Q「スピントロニクスというと、通常、産業上の応用を目標に研究されていますが、私は基礎的な物理学の立場から理論的に研究しています。具体的には電気で磁石の性質を操作する、電流で磁化を操作するということと、その逆の作用である磁化の運動情報を電気的に信号に変えて検出するといったような現象に関する理論を研究しています。」 この研究のきっかけは、スピントランスファー効果による磁壁の電流駆動の実験です。 この実験は強磁性の磁石のワイヤーに電流を流して磁壁を動かすというもので、河野准教授はこの実験を理論的に説明しようと試みました。 Q「電流によって磁壁を動かすということについてですが、我々は電流が流れている元で磁壁の運動方程式をこのように導出して、磁壁を動かすメカニズムが2つあることを明らかにしました。」 この2つのメカニズムは磁壁のスピン移行と運動量移行です。河野准教授は、これらについてミクロな観点から理論を構築し、さらに磁壁以外の一般的な状況にも拡張して、得られた式から磁気渦構造に思い至り、実験家にフィードバックしました。 Q「その結果、磁気渦構造を持つ磁性体にリード線を付けて電気を流すことによって、磁気渦のコアを運動させ、それを電気的に検出することに成功しました。」 さらに、電流を増やしていくとコアの向きを電気的に反転させることができるということが明らかになりました。 Q「次に磁壁や磁気渦など全てひっくるめた ... 2010年09月30日再生回数 5385 |
