 | 松葉を食べるツガカレハ（蛾）の幼虫 Hairy Pine-Eater
体長4cm。体色変異があって素人目には同属近縁種の区別も紛らわしいのですが、幼虫の頭が茶褐色ならマツカレハ、灰褐色ならツガカレハなのだそうです。松の枝に居るとなかなかの保護色。幼虫で越冬するようだ。育てて羽化させようと飼育を始めたら...（つづく）。 Hairy caterpillar of a Lasiocampidae moth, Dendrolimus sperans, grazing pine needles. ツガカレハ幼虫の体内に寄生していたコマユバチの仲間？の成虫。繭から離れた後はどの個体もすぐに飛び立つことなく、かなり念入りに身なりを整えています。体を乾かしているのでしょうか。通りすがりのアリが気さくにカメオ出演してくれました。大きさの違いに注目！ Parasitic wasps (Braconidae?) meticulously grooming themselves shortly after eclosion. ツガカレハ幼虫の体内に寄生していたコマユバチの一種？が繭を作ってから8日後に成虫が続々と羽化し始めた。撮影インターバルは午前中は15秒、午後は10秒。自然光下で撮ると光量が不安定で動画にしたときに画面がちらつきますね。 ハチ類の羽化を観察するのは初めて。白い繭の端に切れ込みが入りパカッと開いて脱出する。他の昆虫のように翅伸展に手間取ったりせず（脱出前に体が固まっている？）直ちに繭を離れるようだ。繭は宿主体表に約50個あったが羽化のピークは既に過ぎていた模様。その後20時過ぎまで粘っても殆ど変化なかったので割愛。うかうかしておれません。（つづく） [Host] hairy caterpillar of japanese moth (Dendrolimus sperans). 幼虫は、サナギになる時期が近付くと、サナギになる場所を探して走り回ります。芋虫体型からは想像できないほどの凄まじき暴走です。つーか、速いです。 小さいほうがカラスアゲハ、大きいほうがクロアゲハの幼虫です。

 | 幸福の木の花の開花（微速度撮影）
2009年1月末、北海道のパソコン教室にある幸福の木に「つぼみ」を発見。 2月16日に無事開花しました。 その様子をライブカメラで定点撮影して、動画にしてみました。通常は5分に1回、花が開く前後は20秒に1回の撮影で、毎秒15コマで動画にしています。 幸福の木に花が咲くのは珍しいそうです。花は夕方に開き朝には閉じてしまいます。 花が開いている間はとても強く甘い香りが漂います。 blog.goo.ne.jp

A hairy caterpillar of Japanese moth (Apha aequalis, family Eupterotidae) devouring leaves of Weigela hortensis (family Caprifoliaceae). You can also see its droppings. Late-July 2008 in Japan. タニウツギの葉を食害するオビガの中齢幼虫。下の葉には排泄した糞が四粒。脱皮すると白から褐色の毛になるそうです。
