	佐藤研究室- 新しい磁性体の可能性を探る  佐藤徹哉研究室では、物理を基礎として新しい機能性の発現を目指し、物理的手法・化学的手法の両者を取り入れた研究をしています。 特に磁性の原理を基本から考えることで、磁石にくっつかない物質を人工的に強磁性体に変化させる手法や、強磁性体以外の磁性体の利用の可能性を研究して、新しい磁性体の可能性を探っています。 磁性体はハードディスクなどの記憶媒体や電気自動車のモーターなど多方面で利用されています。磁性は、原子や電子の一つ一つが微小磁石であることに起源があり、これら微小磁石が平行に揃う場合が強磁性であり、その他に反平行に揃う反強磁性、ランダムな方向を向くスピングラスなどの磁性があります。 このような多様な磁性を示す物質が存在するにもかかわらず、これまでの磁性体の応用では、素性の分かっている強磁性体の性能を向上させることが基本で、利用できる物質がある程度制限されていました。 Q「我々としては、今まで強磁性体ではない材料をなんとか強磁性にしたいということがひとつあります。また、強磁性体以外の材料をなんとか使えるようにしてみたいということがあります。」 Q「強磁性体にするということは、今まで強磁性体ではない物になんらかの影響を与えないといけません。我々はまず材料をナノサイズ化するということを試みました。2003年にパラジウムという、磁石にくっつかない強磁性体ではない物質に対してナノサイズ化することで、初めて強磁性が発現することを見つけました。その方法以外にも物質に電場をかけるといったことでも強磁性を発現させることができます。このように、今後いろんな新しい材料を開発することができるのではと期待しています。」 強磁性体以外の材料を使うということでは、スピングラスという材料に注目しています。スピングラス ... 2010年01月16日再生回数 3670
	磁性と誘電性を繋ぐマルチフェロイクスによる高機能デバイスの実現を  [慶應スピントロニクス 研究連携先 - 木村研究室 , 大阪大学] 大阪大学 基礎工学研究科 木村研究室では誘電性と磁性の相関現象に着目し、物質設計や合成、精密な構造・磁気・誘電物性測定を推し進め、現象の理解さらには高機能な特性を示す物質の開発を目指した研究を行っています。 Q「基本的にものをつくる、自分で物質を設計して、自分でものをつくって、それで自分のつくったもの、機能的な物性というもの、新しい物性というものを、開拓していこうという研究です。 物理現象を探索して、それを将来的には、新しいデバイスに機能させたいという研究を行っています。」 木村研究室で近年力を入れて研究開発を進めているのがマルチフェロイクスといわれる物質です。 通常、電場とスピン、磁場と電荷はあまり関係がなく影響を与え合う事はないですが、磁気と強誘電の異なる秩序を一つの物質内に合わせ持つマルチフェロイクスの中ではこれらの機能が相互に作用する電気磁気効果が発現します。 マルチフェロイクスがなぜ磁性と誘電性を繋ぐ性質があるのかは未だ解決されていないのですが、最近ではスピンが結晶中で螺旋を巻くように配列している事が鍵になっている事が明らかにされてきました。 Q「その螺旋構造と言うのは、時計回りと反時計回りの２種類あって、そのふたつというのは基本的には鏡に映し合わされた関係にある。磁気構造を考えないと鏡の関係ではないんですが、磁気構造を考えると鏡の関係になる。そんなものをもってくると、基本的にはそれほど安定の構造ではないので、ちょっとした磁場をかけることによって、それが壊れる時に、元々電気と分極の関係が大きかったものが破壊される。そういうような物質に磁場をかけると、電気分極が劇的に変わったり、ということが、近年の研究でわかりました ... 2010年04月15日再生回数 2058

The government of South Africa also practiced the same discriminatory policies while occupying South West Africa, known after 1966 as Namibia. Racial segregation in South Africa began in colonial times. However, apartheid as an official policy was introduced following the general election of 1948.
