 | 木造駅舎 方谷駅_JR伯備線〜381系特急やくも〜 BGM：「君が眠るための即興曲」 音楽著作権：フリー音楽素材MusMus: musmus.main.jp 2012年03月18日に帰省したおりに、以前から気になっていた岡山県高梁市のJR伯備線 方谷駅に寄ってきました。 駅にはJRより業務委託された優しそうなお婆ちゃんが切符販売されていました。 ここの駅名は備中松山藩士・漢学者で備中聖人と呼ばれた山田方谷に由来した人名由来の駅で、鉄道省時代としては異例の命名だったそうです。 ～ 駅看板より ～ 備中松山藩儒「山田方谷」生誕の地案内・方谷駅名の由来伯備線開通当時(昭和3年)鉄道省は、駅名を地名である中井、西方または、長瀬の中からと考えていた。しかし地元としては、山田方谷の名を方谷駅として残したいという強い願いがあった。 そこで方谷というのは、西方の谷のことで人名ではないと、陳情を重ね遂に、当時としては全国唯一の「方谷駅」という人名駅が誕生した。 ・長瀬塾 (跡碑) 山田方谷は備中松山藩の元締役を退いた後の1859年(安政6年)５５歳の時、土着政策を自ら実践するために、この地に(方谷駅構内)移住した。この年、後の藩政改革で功績を上げた、長岡藩士(現在の新潟県長岡市)河合継之助が訪ねている。 1869年(明治2年)塾舎を増築して子弟教育に勤めていたが、亡母の霊を慰めるため大佐町小坂部に住居を移動し、長瀬塾を嫡子耕蔵に託した。1881年(明治14年)耕蔵没後、遺族は元の山田家跡(高梁市中井町西方)に移った。 1928年(大正9年)山田方谷縁の人々は、旧宅跡が分からなくなることを恐れて屋敷跡に「山田方谷先生旧宅跡」と石碑を建てた。1928年(昭和3年)伯備線敷設に伴い、石碑の現在の場所へ移設した。 ・方谷園(ここより北東に約6km) 時の上房教育委員会は発起し、山田方谷を追慕する多くの人々の寄付金と中井村民の奉仕によって先生の墓前に公園 ... 2012年03月29日再生回数 143 |
