	VLT Update 8 {31st of August 2011}: The Star That Should Not Exist  Featured on NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day: apod.nasa.gov Press Release: www.eso.org A team of European astronomers has used ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT) to track down a star in the Milky Way that many thought was impossible. They discovered that this star is composed almost entirely of hydrogen and helium, with only remarkably small amounts of other chemical elements in it. This intriguing composition places it in the "forbidden zone" of a widely accepted theory of star formation, meaning that it should never have come into existence in the first place. 	Zoom on supernova SN1987A  Astronomers using ESO's Very Large Telescope have for the first time obtained a three dimensional view of the distribution of the innermost material expelled by a recently exploded star, known as Supernova 1987A (or SN 1987A). The original blast was not only powerful, according to the new results. It was also more concentrated in one particular direction. This is a strong indication that the supernova must have been very turbulent, supporting the most recent computer models. SN 1987A lies in the Large Magellanic Cloud, 165 000 light-years from Earth. This video zooms into images of SN 1987A as seen with ESO telescopes, and finally fades into an artist's impression that shows the different elements present in SN 1987A: two outer rings, one inner ring and the deformed, innermost expelled material. 	ブラックホルが恒星吸い込む瞬間を初観測 2011年8月25日  ブラックホールが恒星吸い込む瞬間を初観測2011年8月25日ブラックホールに恒星が吸い込まれる瞬間の観測に、日本の研究チームが世界で初めて成功した。 東京工業大学・河合誠之教授らの研究チームが、国際宇宙ステーションの日本の実験棟「きぼう」に搭載されたエックス線監視装置の観測データを調べたところ、今年３月、地球から３９億光年離れた銀河の中心で非常に強いエックス線が放射されたのを観測した。 解析の結果、このエックス線は恒星がブラックホールに吸い込まれる瞬間を捉えたものであることが判明したという。 巨大なブラックホールに恒星が吸い込まれる様子を捉えたのは世界で初めてで、今回の観測結果によってブラックホール誕生のメカニズム解明につながることが期待されている。 news24.jp 2011年08月27日再生回数 167874
