Groucho Marx: You Bet Your Life Episode - Secret Word: VoiceGroucho Marx: You Bet Your Life Episode - Secret Word: Voice
DVD: www.amazon.com More episodes: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com The Marx Brothers' stage shows became popular just as Hollywood was changing to "talkies". They signed a contract with Paramount and embarked on their film career. Their first two released films (they had previously made — but not released — one short silent film titled Humor Risk) were adaptations of Broadway shows: The Cocoanuts (1929) and Animal Crackers (1930). Both were written by George S. Kaufman and Morrie Ryskind. Following these two feature-length films, they made a short film that was included in Paramount's twentieth anniversary documentary, The House That Shadows Built (1931), in which they adapted a scene from I'll Say She Is. Their third feature-length film, Monkey Business (1931), was their first that was not based on a stage production, and incidentally the only movie in which Harpo's voice is heard - he's singing tenor from inside a barrel in the opening scene. Horse Feathers (1932), in which the brothers satirized the American college system and Prohibition, was their most popular film yet, and won them the cover of Time. It included a running gag from their stage work, where Harpo revealed having nearly everything in his coat. At various points in Horse Feathers Harpo pulls out of his coat: a wooden mallet, a fish, a coiled rope, a tie, a poster of a woman in her underwear, a cup of hot coffee, a sword; and, just after Groucho warns him that he "can't burn the candle at both ends," a ...

CIA Archives: The Cuban Revolution - Documentary History, Causes, Summary (1960)CIA Archives: The Cuban Revolution - Documentary History, Causes, Summary (1960)
DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org The Cuban Revolution was a successful armed revolt by Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement, which overthrew the US-backed Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista on 1 January 1959, after over five years of struggle. "Our revolution is endangering all American possessions in Latin America. We are telling these countries to make their own revolution." — Che Guevara, October 1962 Castro later travelled to the United States to explain his revolution. He said, "I know what the world thinks of us, we are Communists, and of course I have said very clearly that we are not Communists; very clearly." Hundreds of suspected Batista-era agents, policemen and soldiers were put on public trial for human rights abuses and war crimes, including murder and torture. Most of those convicted in revolutionary tribunals of political crimes were executed by firing squad, and the rest received long prison sentences. One of the most notorious examples of revolutionary justice was the execution of over 70 captured Batista regime soldiers, directed by Raúl Castro after the capture of Santiago. For his part in Havana, Che Guevara was appointed supreme prosecutor in La Cabaña Fortress. This was part of a large-scale attempt by Fidel Castro to cleanse the security forces of Batista loyalists and potential opponents of the new revolutionary regime. Others were fortunate enough to be dismissed from the army and police without prosecution, and some high-ranking officials in ...

Sales Training Video: Courses, Ideas, Companies, Programs, Seminars, Jobs (1941)Sales Training Video: Courses, Ideas, Companies, Programs, Seminars, Jobs (1941)
thefilmarchive.org A sale is the act of selling of products or services in return for money or other compensation. It is an act of completion of a commercial activity. The seller -- the provider of the goods or services -- completes a sale in response to an acquisition or to an appropriation or to a request. There follows the passing of title (property or ownership) in the item, and the application and due settlement of a price, the obligation for which arises due to the seller's requirement to pass ownership. Ideally, a seller agrees upon a price at which he willingly parts with ownership of or any claim upon the item. The purchaser, though a party to the sale, does not execute the sale, only the seller does that. To be precise the sale completes prior to the payment and gives rise to the obligation of payment. If the seller completes the first two above stages (consent and passing ownership) of the sale prior to settlement of the price, the sale remains valid and gives rise to an obligation to pay. A sale can take place through: * Direct sales, involving person to person contact * Pro forma sales * Agency-based o Sales agents (for example in real estate or in manufacturing) o Sales outsourcing through direct branded representation o Transaction sales o Consultative sales o Complex sales o Consignment o Telemarketing or telesales o Retail or consumer * Traveling salesman o Door-to-door methods o hawking * Request for proposal -- An invitation for suppliers, through a ...
