 | 大愛新聞_與海爭地_東海岸板塊交界造山運動陸地升 台灣東部海岸，尤其從花蓮溪到卑南溪，一直是相當著名的地理學戶外天然教室。沿著台十一線公路往南行，處處可見各種發達的海蝕地形，但是在碧海藍天下，大部分的海岸都受到海潮、波浪侵蝕，不斷在退縮中。 就地質上來講，台灣東部處在歐亞大陸板塊和菲律賓海洋板塊的交會處，板塊運動擠壓，東海岸的陸地持續抬升中，而且抬升的速度還是世界最快的地方之一。但事實上，從長濱到台東，二十年來已消失15公頃的海岸線，人為開發，是加速海崖被侵蝕的原因。 台東成功鎮里長王東吉：「這裡是以前原住民的水田，在那邊，這個是產道，原住民的產業道路，現在不見啦，海底吃走了，我們現在看裡面是空殼的，掏空啦！」 東部海岸因為板塊擠壓運動，陸地不斷抬升，海岸階地地形相當發達，尤其從海岸山脈中段以南，長濱、成功到台東一帶，寬而平坦的階地頂部，成了聚落還有農耕的所在。可是陸地的抬升，為什麼沒有為東部增加國土面積，反而侵蝕速度如此驚人？ 台灣師範大學地理系教授沈淑敏：「這兩個現象其實是並存的，陸地的抬升，是一個幾千年幾萬年的尺度的問題，但是在它的最前端，碰到海水的地方，其實還是取決於：第一，海灘夠不夠寬？寬而厚的沙灘，對後面陸地是最好的保護和緩衝帶；第二，構成海階的岩石，是否強壯又堅硬？」 我們跟著台灣師範大學地理系的研究團隊，實地來到成功鎮的八邊溪口，這裡海階地形發達，同時也是海岸侵蝕最顯著的地方。 台灣師範大學地理系教授沈淑敏：「現在看到灰灰黑黑的底岩，因為它含的細顆粒，甚至黏土的材料比較多，就變成爛泥巴，這樣子的岩塊，碰到水就很容易被消散掉。」 先天環境，體質不佳，但後天人為的開發，卻更加快了侵蝕崩塌的速度。 台灣師範大學地理系教授沈淑敏：「假設海階面上有農田開發，大量灌溉、蓄水的問題，表層的地下水會比較多，也比較有機會造成海崖的崩 ... 2009年09月14日再生回数 1751 |
 | 大愛新聞_寶寶學語_腦電波追蹤偵測為語言學習揭密 世界衛生組織統計，發展遲緩兒的盛行率為6%-8%，換算起來，台灣約有12萬名兒童有發展遲緩的問題，為了幫助這些慢飛天使，針對語言發展的部份，師大特教系專門研究嬰幼兒語言發展的團隊，透過孩子的語言行為以及腦電波偵測，瞭解孩子的大腦是如何處理聲音，希望經過科學的了解，對孩子的發展有所幫助。 這空間看起來像是個遊戲室，但事實上研究員正在和小朋友進行語言測試。 文獻上統計，兩歲到三歲語言遲緩的孩子，有百分之五十會在日後自然回復，但也有百分之三十，語言遲緩的現象會一直存在，為什麼會出現這樣的差異，也是這個實驗想要問的。 師大特教系副教授劉惠美：「我們的目的就是要去找出來，一些所謂的早期預測的指標，就是我們早期看到孩子出現什麼樣的行為，或是什麼樣的症狀，這些症狀可能是一個指標，會告訴我們說，孩子接下來可能他的語言發展是OK的，或是哪些指標是危險的。」 實驗對象都是語言表達困難的小朋友，研究發現，如果語言表達不好，同時理解能力也不好時，就是一個危險指標。 師大特教系副教授劉惠美：「如果這個孩子有語言理解上的困難，你在給他的療癒和給他的語言介入上，不應該就只有一直專注在訓練他的表達，因為他有可能是他的理解，是一個很重要的因子，所以你在訓練過程中要去同時兼顧，他的理解訓練跟他的表達訓練。」 什麼是表達和理解？我們透過蘋果來做解釋，當我們要小朋友在圖卡中找出「蘋果在哪裡？」，這考的是理解能力，但換個方式問「這是什麼？」，要小朋友說出「蘋果」，這訓練的就是表達能力。 通常語言發展遲緩的孩子，說話比較不清晰、詞彙量少，他們的大腦是如何處理聲音，這間腦波實驗室，就在關注孩子面對語音細微差異時的腦波反應。 ㄧˊ和ㄧˇ，雖然只有很細微的語音差異，但這足以讓受測者的腦波出現變異差，但語言發展遲緩的孩子，腦波圖卻是重疊在 ... 2010年12月11日再生回数 1158 |
 | Italy: fighting the cultural digital divide with an "internet evangelizing show" At Milan Theatre in 2008 took place the first of "The Internet Show" with Marco Montemagno, promoted by the no profit association Codice Internet, www.codiceinternet.it. It's an itinerant internet evangelizing show throughout Italy (free for the audience) the mission is to explain the Internet opportunities to the masses (...in a new and entertaining way) and to contribute to fill the cultural digital divide gap (in Italy 6 out of 10 italians do not use Internet :( ).  | Secret CIA Human Experiments in the United States: MK-ULTRA Mind Control Research Program thefilmarchive.org April 1980 In 1950, the CIA initiated Project Bluebird, later renamed Project Artichoke, whose stated purpose was to develop "the means to control individuals through special interrogation techniques", "way[s] to prevent the extraction of information from CIA agents", and "offensive uses of unconventional techniques, such as hypnosis and drugs". The purpose of the project was outlined in a memo dated January 1952 that stated, "Can we get control of an individual to the point where he will do our bidding against his will and even against fundamental laws of nature, such as self preservation?" The project studied the use of hypnosis, forced morphine addiction and subsequent forced withdrawal, and the use of other chemicals, among other methods, to produce amnesia and other vulnerable states in subjects. In order to "perfect techniques for the abstraction of information from individuals, whether willing or not", Project Bluebird researchers experimented with a wide variety of psychoactive substances, including LSD, heroin, marijuana, cocaine, PCP, mescaline, and ether. Project Bluebird researchers dosed over 7000 US military personnel with LSD, without their knowledge or consent, at the Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland.  | A History of Opium and Heroin Addiction in the United States Documentary (1972) thefilmarchive.org Opium (poppy tears, lachryma papaveris) is the dried latex obtained from the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum). Opium contains up to 12% morphine, an alkaloid, which is frequently processed chemically to produce heroin for the illegal drug trade. The latex also includes codeine and non-narcotic alkaloids such as papaverine, thebaine and noscapine. The traditional method of obtaining the latex is to scratch ("score") the immature seed pods (fruits) by hand; the latex leaks out and dries to a sticky yellowish residue that is later scraped off the fruit. The modern method is to harvest and process mature plants by machine. "Meconium" historically referred to related, weaker preparations made from other parts of the poppy or different species of poppies. The production of opium itself has basically not changed since ancient times. However, through selective breeding of the Papaver somniferum plant, the content of the phenanthrene alkaloids morphine, codeine, and to a lesser extent thebaine, has been greatly increased. In modern times, much of the thebaine, which often serves as the raw material for the synthesis for hydrocodone, hydromorphone, and other semi-synthetic opiates, originates from extracting Papaver orientale or Papaver bracteatum.
