 | フェントンの君が代 The first version of Japan's national anthem 1870年、英国公使館護衛隊歩兵大隊・軍楽隊長ジョン・ウィリアム・フェントン（アイルランド、コーク州キンセール出身）の作曲による。しかし、1876年（明治9年）に海軍音楽長である中村祐庸が「天皇陛下ヲ祝スル楽譜改訂之儀」を提出。現在の君が代は1880年に誕生した。 フェントンが明治2年（1869）に横浜妙香寺において薩摩藩士に吹奏楽を指導したこの地で毎年フェントン作曲の君が代が演奏される。 Fenton's music was only the first version of Kimi ga Yo.
