Gladstone Harbour Dredge Protest - LNG Coal Seam Gas Port - TV media coverage March 2012Gladstone Harbour Dredge Protest - LNG Coal Seam Gas Port - TV media coverage March 2012
Marking the last day of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee visit to Australia protesters descended on Gladstone Harbour and stopped dredging. Mark (Potts) Driscoll chained himself to the harbour dredge Razende Bol and Rotterdam boat, shutting down the controversial development of the Coal Seam Gas LNG port facility on Curtis Island in Gladstone Queensland. "The dredging activities in Gladstone are a crime against the environment. The LNG facilities in Gladstone are another part in the destructive Coal Seam Gas industry in Queensland. This industry is destroying our farmland, polluting our water systems, and killing the Great Barrier Reef," said Friends of the Earth spokesperson Drew Hutton. "Today is the final day of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee monitoring mission to Australia. We want to send a clear reminder to the World Heritage team that Gladstone harbour is being killed and the dredging by the Coal Seam Gas industry is the cause". The visit by UNESCO was initiated by Gladstone locals over their concern for Gladstone Harbour and the massive industrial development, dredging and fish kills. In June 2011 the Australian Government was requested by UNESCO's World Heritage Committee to 'please explain' why it should be able to maintain World Heritage declaration over the Great Barrier Reef for allowing LNG projects within the Great Barrier Reef marine park. Ichthys LNG Project Overview - Western AustraliaIchthys LNG Project Overview - Western Australia
www.jobcontax.com The Ichthys LNG Project will have an initial capacity to produce 8.4 million tonnes of LNG per annum and approximately 1.6 million tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per annum, as well as 100000 barrels of condensate per day at peak over an operational life of 40 years. Gas from the Ichthys Field will undergo preliminary processing at the offshore central processing facility (CPF) to remove water and raw liquids, including a large proportion of the condensate. This condensate will be pumped to a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) facility anchored nearby, from which it will be transferred to tankers for delivery to markets. The gas will be transported from the CPF through a subsea pipeline more than 885 kilometres to the onshore LNG processing plant proposed for Blaydin Point on Middle Arm Peninsula, Darwin, Northern Territory. It will be cooled to below minus 161 degrees Celsius, the point at which the gas becomes a liquid, known as liquefied natural gas.

Gate LNG Regasification PlantGate LNG Regasification Plant
Gate Terminal, one of the largest LNG plants in northern Europe and the first storage terminal in the Netherlands. The project is an outstanding achievement for Techint E&C and a testimonial to the company's expertise in the LNG sector. Built in the port of Rotterdam by the TSEV consortium led by Techint E&C and Spain's Sener company, Gate Terminal produces 12 billion m3 of gas a year and has a storage capacity of 540000 m3/h. The construction of the facility was completed within the three-year schedule laid out in the EPC contract (from January 2008 to September 2011). As part of the turnkey order, Techint E&C handled management of the project and worksite and supervised the construction works.

LNG Fundamentals (Liquefied natural gas)LNG Fundamentals (Liquefied natural gas)
In its liquid state, LNG is not explosive and can not burn. For LNG to burn, it must first vaporize, then mix with air in the proper proportions (the flammable range is 5% to 15%), and then be ignited. In the case of a leak, LNG vaporizes rapidly, turning into a gas (methane plus trace gases), and mixing with air. If this mixture is within the flammable range, there is risk of ignition which would create fire and thermal radiation hazards.
