Commodore Amiga CD32 Review / GamesCommodore Amiga CD32 Review / Games
The Amiga CD32, styled "CD32" (code-named "Spellbound"), was the first 32-bit CD-ROM based video game console released in western Europe, Australia, Canada and Brazil. It was first announced at the Science Museum in London, United Kingdom on 16 July 1993, and was released in September of the same year. The CD32 is based on Commodore's Advanced Graphics Architecture chipset, and is of similar specification to the Amiga 1200 computer. Using 3rd-party devices, it is possible to upgrade the CD32 with keyboard, floppy drive, hard drive and mouse, turning it into a personal computer. A hardware MPEG decompression module for playing Video CD was also available. The CD32 managed to secure over 38% of the CD-ROM market in the UK [2].

Amiga Longplay [679] Wing Commander (CD32)Amiga Longplay [679] Wing Commander (CD32)
www.recordedamigagames.org Played by Mad-Matt Wing Commander by Origin 1990, ported by Nick Pelling 1993 for Commodore Amiga CD32. Possably the best Amiga game ever (well my personal favorate). This longplay is the Amiga AGA CD version of the game Wing commander and very faithful to the pc original. The game has been recorded to show the winning story line, allthough I had to play some loosing levels Some animation sequences play out too fast so you dont get to hear all the music. There appeared to be a bug in the game where the large cruisers would turn invisable (theres no cloaking in the game). This usualy ment restarting the mission as I couldnt see the taget to shoot, although it is possable to guess where it is from radar. Interestingly they also vanish from from the targeting screen, showing only their shields. An annoyance in the game is on defence missions. The enemy AI will unload all their rockets into their target making them very difficult to save. No matter if comms is used with enemy to try and draw their attention. This is very apparant on mission 13 where I had to save acaptured cruiser. This led to RAGE Ejecting, and semed a good spot to shw the eject sequence and medal. Some notable moments :- Cutscene 1 - 0:57:45 Cutscene 2 - 1:35:10 Cutscene 3 - 2:20:07 Eject Sequence - 3:37:58 Cutscene 4 - 4:17:15 Game Ending - 5:35:40 Bonus: Death Scene 5:36

Amiga CD32 : GLOOM GameplayAmiga CD32 : GLOOM Gameplay
A bit on the slow side in Fullscreen Mode, but still alot more playable than Fears. -_- Sure looks good and smooth on faster Amiga systems. Half screen / Low Detail mode shown near the end was recommended when playing on the Amiga CD32...but it's a bit too small for comfortably playing the game. Game Description: Developed by Black Magic Software & Published by Guildhall Leisure Services Ltd. in 1995. Gloom was the first proper, commercially released, clone of the immensely popular first person shooter Doom on the Amiga. Although somewhat technically inferior to Doom, its release marked a milestone in Amiga gaming, as the Amiga was not widely considered to be able to run such a game at that time. Gloom is not based on the original Doom engine, but bares a closer technological resemblance to Wolfenstein 3D. Neither game features higher or lower levels. In terms of style, however, the game greatly resembles Doom's Sci-Fi setting, and even features levels based upon Hell later in the game. One improvement Gloom offers over other similar games is walls that move horizontally, allowing for sliding doors and "rotating blade" style walls. Later Amiga Doom clones soon followed, such as Alien Breed 3D, Fears and Breathless. Later still the original Doom games and Quake were converted to high-end Amiga platforms. A later version of the game, Gloom Deluxe, featured higher resolution graphic modes. NOTE: Added some Background Music from Guardian(CD32). also Youtube's Video Quality ...
