![]() | JJ Lin - Cao Cao This is the music video of Cao Cao by JJ Lin. It includes a subtitled, (slightly paraphrased) version of the english translation by zhongwenmp3 @ livejournal. Enjoy! Note: According to the email I received from Youtube last week, Viacom has claimed copyright to my video. This...is a bit unsual, considering that JJ Lin and his intellectual work are ©JJ Lin and ©Ocean Butterflies, his record label. Subtitles used in this video are ©Zhongwenmp3 If I wasn't so lazy, I'd probably dispute this. Apparently, because they bother to air the music videos on International MTV, Viacom thinks they own the videos themselves? WTH? It's the RECORD LABEL and the ARTIST that own the videos. If JJ Lin or Ocean Butterflies said, "Wait, that's mine! Take it down!" I'd do it...after I finished fangirling about the fact that JJ Lin or his Label knew that Zongwenmp3 and I had subbed one of his videos. 0.0 2007年01月21日再生回数 304508 |

![]() | Song of the Grass-Mud Horse (Cao Ni Ma) According to the New York Times, "The Grass-Mud Horse" is a mythical creature whose name in Chinese sounds like "fuck your mother". These horses face a problem: invading river crabs that are devouring their grassland. In spoken Chinese, river crab sounds very much like harmony, which in Chinas cyberspace has become a synonym for censorship. Censored bloggers often say their posts have been harmonized — a term directly derived from President Hu Jintaos regular exhortations for Chinese citizens to create a harmonious society. While grass-mud horse sounds like a nasty curse in Chinese, its written Chinese characters are completely different, and its meaning —taken literally — is benign. Thus, the beast has dodged the Chinese governments efforts to censor information over the Internet that is seditious or inflammatory. Xiao Qiang, an adjunct professor of journalism at the University of California, Berkeley, said that the grass-mud horse is an icon of resistance to censorship. 童声合唱:草泥马之歌 2009年03月13日再生回数 210322 |
