![]() | BBC TV Studio N North West twin-lens telecine example 1981 This telecine and voice over transfer takes place in BBC Studio N, Manchester. For the first few seconds various sources are being cut around and then the telecine is cut to which is sat on a still frame - the audio track starts then. The telecine is a 16mm Rank Cintel MkII twin-lens flying spot with com-mag and sep-mag facilities. This clip is presented as an excellent example of how a twin lens telecine works - the design does not allow the showing of still frames correctly nor film running backwards correctly because of the way the twin-lens system operates, but the design does give excellent film handling as there is no intermittent motion, and superior picture quality compared to a camera-type telecine. A detailed description of the way a twin-lens telecine works can be found here and should be read to understand its nuances (scroll down to Twin Lens, also SEPMAG later): www.vtoldboys.com In the clip a filmed news report is being transferred to VT A (video tape recorder) located some two miles away in New Broadcasting House, Oxford Road, Manchester, and at the same time a voice over (VO) from a presenter in the studio describing the scene and completing the report. The news item will later be played from VT A into the local news programme, as well as at some point VT A seperately sending the report down the line to London for inclusion into their national news bulletin. At the end of the recording the telecine is run backwards to the beginning and again a good ... 2011年07月17日再生回数 669 |

![]() | A BBC Experimental Colour Transmission 1957 - Part One A black & white telerecording of a BBC Television experimental colour transmission on 31 January 1957 which was broadcast and shown to a large audience of Members of both Houses of Parliament on six receivers installed in a room in the House of Lords. This telerecording is MUTE for the first two minutes. The BBC had been carrying out research and development on colour television since the resumption of the television service in 1946. On 7 October 1954, the first 'compatible' type of colour television picture was radiated from the medium-power transmitter at Alexandra Palace. The pictures included slides and 16-mm motion pictures. During the winter of 1955-6 a regular series of transmissions were conducted at Alexandra Palace, with the primary purpose of testing the compatibility of the pictures on a comparatively large sample of domestic receivers. Again, only slides and pictures from 16-mm motion film were used. In the meantime Studio A at Alexandra Palace had been equipped with a single three-tube colour camera of Marconi design, and the first occasions on which colour pictures including scenes from the studio were broadcast occurred on 3, 4, and 5 April 1956. By the autumn of 1956, Studio A at Alexandra Palace had been equipped with a second experimental colour camera and, a little later, a 35-mm Cintel film scanner was installed to supplement the slide and 16-mm film scanner. With this equipment and with the enthusiastic help of programme staff, an ambitious and ... 2009年09月14日再生回数 6258 |
