	Yea Yea Baby-Earl Carroll & Original Cadillacs-1957-Josie.wmv  The Cadillacs first got together when its members were students at PS 139 in Harlem. As the Cadillacs, they were great R&B favorites in the middle and late 1950s, and are today remembered as the first R&B group to extensively use choreography in their stage routines. They had two big US chart hits, "Speedo" and "Peek-A-Boo". The following is compiled from interviews with some of the people who made the name "Cadillacs" famous: Earl "Speedo" Carroll, lead singer and backbone of the group, Esther Navarro, their manager and writer of most of their material; and Bobby Spencer, lead singer of the second Cadillacs group. Our story begins in the streets of Harlem in 1953, where several young men, Earl Carroll, Laverne Drake, Robert Phillips and we believe Gus Willingham (Earl Carrol and Esther Navarro could not remember the fourth original member, Earl stated that he knew him as Johnny. This may have been his nickname. Phil Groia informed us that the fourth member was Gus Willingham). They met and harmonized on the tenement stoops and in the hallways. These four lads attended PS 139 at 140th Street and 7th Avenue and billed themselves as the Carnations. Their trade mark was a white carnation in their jacket lapels. They sang in school and the other kids encouraged them to cut a record. 	Jean Spangler - Part 1 - Mysteries and Scandals (2001)  One of Hollywood's most obscure mysteries, Spangler's 1949 story was brought to the attention of producers by Kyle J. Wood (who had been a contributing consultant since the "Black Dahlia" episode in 1998). Initially reluctant to take on the subject because numerous interviews were lacking (many key players and family members were by then deceased, actor Kirk Douglas who wrote about her in his 1988 autobiography declined, etc.), Wood was eventually able to convince producers by providing a number of last minute leads which led to interviews with retired LAPD "Black Dahlia" detective Ralph Asdel (who worked Spangler's case), former Earl Carroll Theater showgirl (and Spangler friend) Betty Bedoin, and retired LAPD officer George O'Nan (who answered the call of Spangler's purse having been found). 	Cadillacs - Gloria (Original)  "Gloria" was written by Leon René and first recorded in 1945 by the Buddy Baker Sextet. The most popular version of the song in the 1940's was done by the Mills Brothers in 1948.
