	The Long Haul Starring Victor Mature - Classic Film  Harry Miller (Victor Mature) is an Ex-GI living in a tiny, rundown flat in Liverpool with his English bride and young son. Harry feels trapped in his life there: the best job he can get is driving a truck for his wife's uncle, and his desire to return to the States is a constant source of friction between the couple. When he lends a hand to the gorgeous, petulant girlfriend of big-time racketeer Joe Easy (Patrick Allen), Harry finds himself tempted by more than just the lovely Lynn (Diana Dors). Similar in theme to They Drive by Night and the great Thieves' Highway, this little known noir gem has more twists and turns than the English countryside; written and directed by Ken Hughes (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Casino Royale) who specialized in British suspense stories (or Brit Noir) before resettling in Hollywood. 	The Cars - My Best Friend's Girl  Although much was made of their sense of new wave cool during their heyday, the real reason that the Cars' recorded work holds up so well is that it is built on solid pop songwriting. For proof, a listener need look no further than "My Best Friend's Girl." The Cars' recorded version has an unmistakably new wave feel but a look at its components as a song reveal it is pure pop through and through. The lyrics, which depict a man's frustrated desire for the charms of a girl who is dating his best friend, are the kind of classic pop-song scenario that has been utilized by everyone from Elvis Presley ("The Girl of My Best Friend") to Rick Springfield ("Jessie's Girl"). However, lyricist Ric Ocasek adds his own nifty twist the story with the lines "She's my best friend's girl/But she used to be mine." The music also stays firmly in a pop vein by crafting a melody with a solid verse-chorus pop structure and layering its verses with singalong counterpoint lines to the main vocal melody. The Cars' recording pushes the song into new wave territory with a musical blend of sharp-edged guitar riffs, glacial synthesizer lines, and the irony-drenched vocal delivery of Ocasek. Just the same, it retains its pop center with elements like handclaps and the call-and-response interplay between Ocasek and the background vocals. The mats were being packed away, the spectators and other players had mostly gone home. Matt and Chris fought their way through to the finals with 4 matches each and then put on the match of the tournament. They had met once before at the finals of the British No Gi Absolutes and Matt had won. This was a classic match up of strength, power and natural talent (Matt got his blue belt in 3 months and many of you will know him as an ex-national UK rugby team member ) vs technique, experience and an excellent game plan. Braulio Estima is the referee. Braulio is a big man.
