Arianespace reinforced its position as the worlds commercial launch services provider of choice with the fourth Ariane 5 flight of 2009, which orbited two Asia-Pacific telecommunications satellites tonight on the 32nd consecutive mission success of this workhorse vehicle. Lifting off from the Spaceports ELA-3 launch zone in French Guiana, the Ariane 5 injected its JCSAT-12 and Optus D3 payloads into geostationary transfer orbit during a flight that lasted just over 34 minutes. Tonights mission marked another on-time departure for Ariane 5, starting its climb-out at the 7:09 pm opening of a one-hour launch window. It quickly passed through a thin layer of clouds, and was followed by tracking cameras that provided a clear view of the launchers trajectory including the downrange separation of Ariane 5s two solid propellant boosters at an altitude of nearly 68 kilometers. The satellite passengers lofted by Ariane 5 were built by US manufacturers and will be operated by two of Arianespaces key Asia-Pacific customers: SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation of Japan and the Optus telecommunications provider in Australia. 	Arianespace Flight - ASTRA 1N & BSAT-3c/JCSAT-110R  Arianespace orbited a pair of commercial relay satellites for direct television broadcasting services tonight on Ariane 5's fourth heavy-lift mission of 2011. During a 38-minute flight from the Spaceport in French Guiana, this workhorse vehicle lofted the ASTRA 1N and BSAT-3c/JCSAT-110R spacecraft, delivering an estimated payload lift performance to geostationary transfer orbit of 9095 kg. -- which included a combined mass of 8240 kg. for the two satellites, along with the launcher's dual-payload dispenser system and associated integration hardware. It marked the 203rd flight of an Ariane since the family of European-developed commercial launchers began operation in 1979, and was the 59th launch of an Ariane 5. The precision of Ariane 5 was demonstrated once again tonight, highlighting the on-target repeatability of this vehicle. The estimated orbital parameters at its cryogenic upper stage's injection were: - Perigee: 249.7 km. for a target of 249.7 km. - Apogee: 35957 km. for a target of 35952 km. - Inclination: 2.01 deg. for a target of 2.00 deg. ASTRA 1N was deployed first during the mission, and marked the 11th satellite launched for SES ASTRA by Arianespace -- and the 34th entrusted to the company by the SES group. Fitted with 52 active Ku-band transponders, ASTRA 1N was built by EADS Astrium based on the Eurostar E3000 platform, and had an estimated liftoff mass of 5350 kg. 	[Ariane 5] Launch of JCSAT-13 & VINASAT-2 on Ariane 5  The 62nd Ariane 5 lifted off from Kourou in French Guiana today, May 15th 2012, at 22:12 UTC. The Ariane 5 carried the JCSAT-13 and VINASAT-2 communication satellites into orbit. JCSAT-13 at 4350kg has a design life of over 15 years and is for Japanese operator SKY Perfect JSAT, it is fitted with 44 Ku-Band transponders and will provide TV broadcast capability to all over Japan. VINASAT-2 is around 2970kg has a design life of over 15 years and is for Vietname providing radio, television and telephone capabilities through it's 24 Ku-Band transponders.
