![]() | 民訴記(47) - 無敵金句 民訴記(47) - 無敵金句by Kwokman jgospel.net Date: 8th January, 2011 Hi, this is Kwokman. I talked about effective bible reading last time. You must read it quickly because the passages are all interrelated. You need to remember the previous books when you read the later ones. You must comprehend the entire bible. Otherwise, you would often miss the point. There're some quotable verses that have been abused. These verses have often been quoted inappropriately. Even non-believers know these verses by heart. It'd be a pity if these are all that a Christian knows. One verse was often quoted by former president Bush, "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" Another verse came about when Pharisees brought an adulterer to Jesus and asked for his judgement. Jesus said, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." These are the most popular bible verses. Whenever one says something about right or wrong, eg adultery, someone would challenge him to first rid himself of his plank in the eye. When one says that homosexuality is a sin, someone would say let him who is without sin cast the first stone. If one says abortion is wrong, someone would protest also for nobody is righteous. These people don't even know the meaning behind these verses. They just know several verses and assume inviolability. Matt 7:4 Jesus said, "First remove the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the ... 2011年01月08日再生回数 318 |
![]() | The Dhammapada (法句經) - "Craving" -- "渴望".wmv The Dhammapada (法句經) "Craving" -- "渴望" The craving of a person lives negligently Spreads like a creeping vine. Such a person leaps ever onwards, Like a monkey seeking fruit in the forest. (334) Sorrow grows Like grass after rain For anyone overcome by this miserable craving And clinging to the world. (335) Sorrow falls away Like drops of water from a lotus For anyone who overcomes this miserable craving And clinging to the world. (336) This I say to you: Good fortune to all assembled here! Dig out the root of craving As you would the fragrant root of birana grass. Don't let Mara destroy you again and again, As a torrential river [breaks] a reed. (337) Just as a felled tree grows again If the roots are unharmed and strong, So suffering sprouts again and again Until the tendency to crave is rooted out. (338) With the thirty-six streams [of craving] Flowing mightily toward anything pleasing, The person of wrong views Is carried away on the currents of lustful intent. (339) The streams flow everywhere; The creeper [of craving] sprouts and remains. Seeing that the creeper has sprouted, Use insight to cut it at the root. (340) When desire flows, Pleasure arises. Attached to happiness, seeking enjoyment, People are subject to birth and old age. (341) Surrounded by craving, People run around like frightened hares. Held by fetters and bonds, They suffer, repeatedly, over a long time. (342) Surrounded by craving, People run around like frightened hares. Seeking dispassion, A ... 2011年03月08日再生回数 195 |

![]() | Dhammapada / 법구경(法句經) [186-192] Dhammapada / 법구경(法句經) [186-192] 186-187 There is no satisfying sensual desires, even with the rain of gold coins. For sensual pleasures give little satisfaction and much pain. Having understood this, the wise man finds no delight even in heavenly pleasures. The disciple of the Supreme Buddha delights in the destruction of craving. 188-189 Driven only by fear, do men go for refuge to many places — to hills, woods, groves, trees and shrines. Such, indeed, is no safe refuge; such is not the refuge supreme. Not by resorting to such a refuge is one released from all suffering. 190-191 He who has gone for refuge to the Buddha, the Teaching and his Order, penetrates with transcendental wisdom the Four Noble Truths — suffering, the cause of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the Noble Eightfold Path leading to the cessation of suffering.
