	My QRP "go kit" backpack with IC-703+ ham radio  This video shows my portable ham radio station "go kit". It is contained in a backpack from PowerPort (www.powerportstore.com My lovely wife had the pack embroidered with my callsign before she gave it to me. She also bought me the ZM-2 tuner kit, as well as the AstroFlight Whattmeter (thanks to Jerry N2GJ for the suggestion!). It's wonderful having a supportive spouse! The antennas are the Par Electronics tri-band end-fed antenna, and the Super Antennas MP-1 multiband vertical antenna. The tuner is a z-match style tuner from Emtech. 	QRP SSB on 40 metres: portable from the beach  What happens when you slice off the unwanted sideband but keep the output power the same? You get better signal reports and longer distance contacts. Under test today is a 7 MHz QRP SSB transceiver. It was actually built several years ago but I wasn't really happy with its performance until recent mods. It's previously worked DX from home when teamed up with an amplifier, but today's beach outing was the first time it was used portable. The contacts recorded here were made over a two hour span between roughly 6 and 8pm (local time). The antenna used was a 1/2 wavelength end-fed with a short counterpoise. Most contacts were locals, who gave good reports. However the day was really made great by working ZL, a couple of thousand kilometres away. The rig itself is very similar to VK3XU's TCF series of transceivers. These are described in the book 'Radio Projects for the Amateur' (Vol 1) and Amateur Radio magazine for May 1995 (TCF 40). 2011年01月01日再生回数 7728

	How To: Backpack QRP HF Portable  Here, I show you how to pack HF gear for wilderness hiking and camping. I detail equipment and simple setup. Rig is a Yaesu FT-817ND, Antenna is a home-brew dipole cut for 20m (40m extensions are not used, but shown), Battery is my trusty 9Ah Sealed Lead Acid (SLA), DC cord is an alligator clip lead. I spent about 5 hours on the hill, and made 9 unique QSOs to Canada and the US via QRP Portable in Vermont (FN32). Also along for the trip, my Yaesu VX-8 HT, which I used with APRS Digi's and the SOVARC Shaftsbury, VT Repeater.
