Like most people I guess, I frequently find myself absentmindedly wondering what it would have been like to have been a teenage Japanese girl earlier this century. I often find during meetings at work that my mind drifts onto this very subject, so it was great to watch a film that so encapsulates my thoughts. This movie has it all, pink scooters, Lolita fashion, that weird Japanese game with ball-bearings, an obsession with Versace and the Rococo 18th-century artistic movement and style, extremely high-quality embroidery, it's all here. This comedy does have a plot. I would say it's a bit silly and far-fetched, but then again it probably doesn't really matter; it's the sort of film you have to experience rather than just sit and passively watch.
