 | Resiliency of the tobacco plant (5516) WEATHER - for better or for worse, it happens. But alas! Take heart! Your tobacco may still survive! Even after a heavy rain, these amazing plants continued to thrive..... with a little TLC. Simply place a stake in the ground near the plant, then gently tie it upright, and it's likely to take off in the right direction again. This first year of "real growing" (beyond my 2 little tobacco plants in small pots for 2009) has been a tremendous learning experience.... not to mention all the insight from a bit of trial and error. And next year should be fantastic! Among other things, I'm hoping to put up a row of stakes, then link them together with string about about 3 and 5 feet off the ground. The idea is to have something "ready made" that I can tie the plants to as they grow. That way I won't have to do it "after the fact," like in this video -- which describes how my plants had fallen over in the wind and rain, then had to be staked back up from there. In this regard, taking a cue from the vineyard owners is a good idea -- giving the tobacco something to hold onto (for sturdiness), just like grapes are grown clinging to a trellis. The only difference is..... tobacco stalks grow straight up, vertical to the ground. They don't tangle and twist themselves into the stakes (or trellises) like variations of ivy. Instead, you have to gently take a string and tie them to the stake - just like a young tree. It takes some extra work, but in the end, if it saves having to pick ... 2010年10月12日再生回数 1747 |

Flower clusters and seed pods are shown and discussed, as well as 2 year old plants that started out as "bonsai tobaccos" last year and were able to winter over when taken inside. Most of the plants here have already been partially harvested as the leaves have matured, starting with those on the bottom and moving up. However, they are continuing to show new growth and will probably survive quite well so long as the temperatures don't drop below about 40 degrees at night.... which, so far, they haven't.  | My Tobacco Plants - Virginia Broad Leaf Tobacco Directed by WulfBand, Plantation Slave: WulfBand. These are some of my Virginia Broad Leaf Tobacco Plants. This is my 3rd year to grow them. You can get seeds off ebay CHEEP :) They are very tiny seeds, not much bigger than a pin head. These plants this years have gone CRAZY in their growth. I'm not sure why, could be because they got allot of fertilization from my Neighbors Dogs ;) lol But they are GIGANTIC. Before they flower they emit the most beautiful aroma I've ever smelled.
