Schottky diodes do not have accumulation of excess charges, as the current is determined by transition of the main carriers from the semiconductor into the metal.The switching time of Schottky diodes is very low (up to 0.1 ns) and does not depend on temperature. In comparison with silicon diodes, a direct voltage drop in Schottky diodes is less by half (about 0.3 - 0.4 V).If a Shottky diode transistor is located between the base and the collector, the collector does not go into the saturation mode when the transistor opens, since the direct voltage is UKB = 0.4 V. This helps eliminate a shutdown delay and the speed increases by 3-5 times.A transistor with a Schottky diode between the base and the collector is called a Schottky transistor.Elements of transistor-transistor logic with Schottky diodes implement an AND-NOT gate and are used in K530, K531 series. 	4-bit TTL Arithmetic & Logic Unit (ALU)  This video shows a design, and demonstration, of a 4-bit ALU that is able to add 1, subtract 1, negate, invert, and pass-through a 4-bit binary number. Carry-out, overflow, zero, negative and positive result flags are shown. The design is based on a half-adder, with XOR gates on the input and output to control which operation is performed. 	Homebrew 4-bit Computer using TTL ICs  This video is a demonstration and description of the 4-bit computer that I have designed and build within the last 2-3 months. It uses 51 (revised to 50) integrated circuits, mostly in the 74LS "TTL" series, with the only exceptions being two 5514 memory chips. It's architecture is similar to that of the machine described at cpuville.com. This is an extremely good website for beginners, mostly due to the extremely detailed description of the architecture, especially the control logic.
