![]() | YM2612 Remake of the Theme of Simon Belmont In case you're not aware, the YM2612 is the name of the Genesis' FM-synth sound chip, which is made by Yamaha (hence "YM"). This is a re-creation of the Theme of Simon from Castlevania IV for the 2612 meant to recreate the original as accurately as possible. Fortunately this was a fairly simple task, thanks to the people of TFM tracker (Shiru) and Devster Noise Machine, who created most of these samples. This was made with TFM tracker and exported as a VGM file, which can be downloaded here: www.box.net Since Youtube videos are monaural, this is worth a download since the file has stereo effects that don't come through here. I won't offer an mp3 download since this is smaller and sounds better. For playing VGM files, I recommend Winamp and the In_Vgm plugin. The background is taken from Castlevania: Bloodlines' JP release, which was known as Vampire Killer (the MSX "Castlevania" was released in Europe with that title, oddly enough, way back when -- and Bloodlines is the name of the final stage for Rondo of Blood). 2008年06月09日再生回数 17466 |
![]() | YM 2612 FM synthesis - Game : High Seas Havoc Okay okay, it's emulated. But it's very true to the original. Japanese guys are crazy when it goes to composing video game music, and the game's musics pretty nice, sometimes I hear the touch of ALPHAVILLE and other famous bands from the 80s. I played that game in my holidays at my grandparent's house. Back then, I have been impressed...and I do love it now. Ya ya, these videos are incredible infamous, but if there is some FM fan out there happy, my job is done :-) 2010年12月29日再生回数 1050 |
![]() | YM2612 Circuit - Program Change Video demonstrating a circuit I designed and wrote the firmware for. A PIC18f4455 microcontroller listens for MIDI siganls, and drives a Sega Genesis's YM2612 FM sound chip. This video showcases the Program Change support, which allows the synthesizer to very rapidly change instruments. 2010年02月15日再生回数 1254 |
![]() | YM2612 MIDI Synthesizer KHBO Lab Project: YM2612 MIDI Synthesizer All the MIDI commands are sent with a Yamaha KX-49 MIDI Keyboard. The PCB has a PIC18F4620 microcontroller with custom firmware to decode the MIDI commands. A HD44780 compatible display is used to show parameter information. Six LEDS show the activity on each channel. 2011年12月29日再生回数 258 |
![]() | Custom YM2612 Song in TFM Music Maker I made the actual melody for this song a good while ago for a Sonic fangame, but that was before I had the proper tools to play it using Genesis instruments. Since TFM Music Maker doesn't support DAC, I downloaded a generic drum loop from Free-Loops.com and added it to the song via-Audacity. 2010年01月11日再生回数 6839 |
![]() | FM Synthesizer chip YM2612 demo - Volume 3 This is the third video of the YM2612, the soundchip of the Genesis / MegaDrive. The DAC (digital audio channel, PCM) is disabled, as well as the PSG, a left-over from the 8-bit MasterSystem. The songs are all from MegaDrive games and may sound "empty" or like something's missing because due to the lack of the PSG and DAC. But it's all about the YM2612, and this is what you can hear. 1) CHEETAHMEN / BILLY BOB The infamous game Action 52 for the NES is probably the worst and unlicensed compilation of garbage ever. The Genesis version was much better, so the music. The author, the NU ROMANTIC PRODUCTIONS, are known for their funky music (eg from KID CHAMELEON), and with the soundset from TOEJAM AND EARL PANIC ON FUNKOTRON, the Action52 soundtrack is overall funky. 2) Curacao from GREENDOG. I liked that music, it was always so chilling and made me whistle certain tunes. This game waited for me at my grandparents house whenever I stayed there for holidays. So the music has a special value to me. PAUL GADBOIS uses the same instrument set as TALESPIN, note the well-sounding slap bass. 3) The main menu theme from LEMMINGS 2 lacks the DAC. Where you expect the "Wua-Wow" sound there's nothing, but then a fully-fledged FM song appears. Nice stereo effects and much FM-style is going on there. Listen to that snarrling sound "in the middle" of the stereo panorama giving some kind of background melody. 4) Ah, the LAKESIDE AT SUNSET from TINY TOONS. I always thought those cartoon songs ... 2011年09月26日再生回数 383 |

![]() | Sore Wa Totsuzen, Yattekuru! (YM2612 - SPC700 Arrange ) One of my favorite J-Pop songs by Makkun (Masami Okui), this song is heard in the NEEI album and then later on in the S-Mode albums. I've decided to make this video quite unique this time. There is a YM2612 (Sega Genesis) and a SPC-700 (Super Nintendo) arrangement of just one song. I thought it would be fun to hear what both home systems would play to such a tune. There is no original MIDI involved with this one, this was written strictly under FL Studio. Using VOPM for the YM chip emulation and finally ripped SPC Instruments from various SNES games for the SPC-700 part (SNES-esque reverb included ;D) Please enjoy this arrangement as I have worked hard and had fun in the process in arranging it. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated, the same for questions. (Note: T.Yabuki = Toshiro Yabuki, responsible for arrangements for Makkun songs like 'Birth' and 'Jama wa sasenai') 2009年08月30日再生回数 1491 |
