MSX - Music from Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, part 1MSX - Music from Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, part 1
Part 1 of the music from Konami's Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, the sequel to the original Metal Gear on the MSX. What more to say about this game than you already know? I did a walkthrough of it; check it out if you haven't seen it yet. youtube.com The original music was composed by Masahiro Ikariko, Kazuhiko Uehara and Izumi Mutsuhiko. I am not sure which tracks are from whom. I am not even sure whether one or more of the guys did the sound effects instead of the music. Perhaps one day they google their names, end up here and can tell me personally. Perhaps supply me with some profile links as well. en.wikipedia.org The game uses Konami's custom sound chip called SCC (Sound Custom Chip), a 5-channel chip that compliments the 3-channel PSG chip of the MSX computer system. MSX - Music from Nemesis/Gradius (SCC), part 1MSX - Music from Nemesis/Gradius (SCC), part 1
Part 1 of the music from Nemesis, also known as Gradius in other parts of the world. The soundtrack, 14 mp3 (192kbs) tracks long, can be downloaded here: www.4shared.com This video is available in high quality. Click the link under the video and it will sound a lot better. Part 2: youtube.com The music for this legendary game was composed by Miki Higashino, a female composer who was also involved with the music for Knightmare, Yie-Ar Kung Fu, Salamander, Nemesis III and various titles for other systems. www.squareenixmusic.com en.wikipedia.org The game uses Konami's custom sound chip called SCC (Sound Custom Chip), a 5-channel chip that compliments the 3-channel PSG chip of the MSX computer system. Originally, the music was PSG only, but Konami rereleased an SCC version in 1989 with Game Collection No. 3. After Nemesis/Gradius I want to upload a few more soundtracks from this saga. I like how the music style gradually evolved into epicness (for lack of a better word). Beside that, the early pieces of SCC music (ie the music of Nemesis 1 and 2) do not fully utilize the possibilities of the hardware yet. Compare these soundtracks with those of Metal Gear 2 and SD Snatcher... And yes, I will come up with those as well, soon. Part 1 of the music from Nemesis III - The Eve Of Destruction. In Japan its (original) title is "Gofer no Yabou Episode II" (Gofer's Ambition Episode II).
