Exhausted as she was by the race in -26 Celsius temperatures, she was briefly speechless when her partner and fellow Australian James Alderson knelt down on the ice to propose marriage to her. Farr eventually accepted and they embraced. The happy couple were among fourty athletes who ran the full marathon distance of 42.195 kms (26 miles 385 yards) with some of them taking ten hours to do so.
