![]() | 9/11 CONSPIRACY:WERE THERMITE SHAPE CHARGES USED AT THE WTC? THE PHYSICAL IMPOSSIBILITY OF A COLLAPSE BY FIRE Steel will do all kinds of "tricks," but actually melting it requires a basic melting temperature of 2890° F or greater (jet fuel burns at 1800° F maximum). Melting also requires the element of time, sufficient to permit thermal energy buildup and "peak" melting temperature. To obtain the melting temperature for steel - not iron - one needs the external temperature of approximately 2900 degrees (F) with enough time for the metal to convert from a solid to a liquid. The process can be sped-up, but only with a much higher temperature -- such as Thermite -- approximately 5400 degrees (F). That's almost twice the needed heat. All the pooled jet fuel in the world won't burn hot enough to produce molten steel - under any conditions. Molten steel was found in the basements under the debris piles of the twin towers and WTC#7. 2007年03月26日再生回数 82217 |
![]() | Liquid Metal Alloy In this video I make Galinstan, a metal alloy that is liquid at room temperature. It's made of gallium, indium, and tin at a particular ratio - 68.5% Ga, 21.5% In, 10% Sn. Melting points: Gallium: 85.5 F Indium: 314 F Tin: 450 F Final Alloy: -2.2 F It's particularly interesting that the alloy's melting point is much lower than the melting point of each of the components - you would think it would be somewhere more around the average value of the ingredients' melting points. My ultimate goal is to make a non-toxic substitute for mercury metal. This particular alloy tends to wet everything, so it's not quite there yet. I'll do some more experiments of different alloy compositions in the future. 2010年10月03日再生回数 9460 |

![]() | Crystalisation of Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) The students of DCHE (Chemical Engineering), Singapore Polytechnic, conducted an experiement to determine the melting temperature of different polymers. This video is the crystalisation of Low Density Polyethylene as seen under the polarising microscope. The experiement is done by Group D class 1A03 (AY2009), under the guidence of lecturer, Mrs Leong Kim Yen. Below are the students who involved in the experiment. -Yadana -Cai Ting -Azfar -Marchia -Matthew 2009年05月18日再生回数 2740 |

![]() | In-situ synchrotron tomography of glass raw materials melting at high temperature An in-situ tomography experiment was realized on the ID15 beamline of the ESRF synchrotron. A granular packing of sand, sodium carbonate and calcium carbonate was heated at high temperatures and observed in-situ while the grains reacted together and glassy melts were produced. The movie starts by showing the different types of grains and the granular packing at room temperature. Then images at different temperatures are shown for the same vertical cut. 3-D visualizations were realized with the Mayavi software. This study was realized by E. Gouillart, MJ Toplis, J. Grynberg, M.-H. Chopinet, E. Sondergard, L. Salvo, M. Suéry, M. Di Michiel, and G. Varoquaux. 2011年09月06日再生回数 10042 |
