"What is the difference between top of the line equipment and bottom of the line". This is a common question for people interested in the sport. Why do all the best pilots like Team Redbull and the World & National Champion fly the Flat Top vs the slightly cheaper paratoys gear. First the Flat Top Ninja is 54 lbs vs 75 lbs for the Black Hawk 313. This is a huge gigantic difference. Then because the Flat Top Ninja is also considerably more powerful the power to weight ratio of the Flat Top Ninja is unmatched in the industry. That's only a start though. Safety is the biggest reason. The Flat Top has incredibly well designed crumple zones that can absorb up to even terminal velocity impacts such as a full stall. This is just one of the reasons zero people have been killed on Flat Tops and quite a few have died on Black Hawk paramotors. The next huge injury you see on cheaper units is hands & bodyparts getting into the propeller. Zero of these injuries have ever happened on Flat Tops because of the incredibly strong cage design that has kevlar netting as an integral part of the system. Each kevlar line on the Flat Top is 400 lb strength and it is held in place with very specially designed rivets. Powered Paragliding has a lot riding on the glider you fly and many people want to know which glider is the most stable but also offers the most performance. An interesting test to find out which glider is more stable and collapse resistant is to run the gliders into each other. The more stable glider will stay open while the less stable glider will collapse and wad up. This video makes it clearly obvious that the Cima K2 from Sky Paragliders is considerably more stable then the Dudek Nucleon. The K2 is a certified beginner glider where the Nucleon can't pass any level of safety certifications past trim speed. Often the Nucleon is advertised as extremely stable or more stable than other gliders. This test hear provides clear evidence as to the reality. Watch as the Nucleon collapses against the very solid and stable K2 over and over. Now also notice something very interesting. Often when you collapse one side of the Nucleon the whole glider becomes unstable and the whole glider depressurizes. This could be a very good sign as to why it can't pass any level of safety certifications while at any configuration past trim speed. Now the K2 isn't really in the same class as the Nucleon since the K2 is a fully certified beginner glider where the Nucleon is in the uncertified class.
